RARE ANIMALS EXPEDITION
Day 1: ULAANBAATAR
Arrive in Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia. Check into your accommodation and take some time to rest or explore the city at your leisure.
Optional: Visit local attractions such as Sukhbaatar Square, Gandantegchinlen Monastery, or the National Museum of Mongolia.
Day 2: KHUSTAI NATIONAL PARK
Depart from Ulaanbaatar and travel to Khustai National Park, located approximately 100 kilometers southwest of the city. Upon arrival, embark on a guided tour of the park, home to the world-famous Przewalski's horse, also known as Takhi, which was successfully reintroduced to its native habitat in Hustai. Enjoy opportunities for wildlife spotting, including sightings of Takhi, as well as other native species such as marmots and various bird species. Spend the night in a ger camp or tent accommodation within the park, immersing yourself in the natural beauty of the Mongolian steppe.
Days 3-4: LUN SUM WILDERNESS CAMP
Journey to Lun Sum Wilderness Camp, located in the picturesque Khangai Mountains region. Spend two days exploring the pristine wilderness of Lun Sum, known for its rugged landscapes, lush forests, and abundant wildlife. Engage in outdoor activities such as hiking, birdwatching, and wildlife spotting, with opportunities to encounter iconic Mongolian species such as the argali sheep—the world's largest wild sheep—alongside deer, gazelle, wolves, foxes, and marmots. Experience traditional Mongolian hospitality with overnight stays in comfortable ger camps or tent accommodations, enjoying hearty meals prepared with locally sourced ingredients.
DAY 5: RETURN TO ULAANBAATAR
Bid farewell to Lun Sum Wilderness Camp and return to Ulaanbaatar. Take some time to relax and reflect on your wilderness adventure, or explore any remaining attractions or activities in the city. Shop for souvenirs at local markets, picking up handmade crafts or traditional Mongolian artwork as mementos of your trip. This itinerary offers a perfect balance of wildlife exploration, outdoor adventure, and cultural immersion, allowing you to discover the unique beauty of Mongolia's natural landscapes and iconic wildlife species.
